The word “holistic” has been a recently used buz word (and maybe even overused and abused). The word can have many meanings, depending on who you ask, but in general, “holistic” means in relation to the whole as opposed to focusing on individual parts. Holistic may also refer to balancing the mind, body, and spirit. If one of these components is not functioning optimally, the whole body will be affected. But, what does it mean to be a holistic dentist according to Dr. Dreher? Let us tell you..
According to Dr. Dreher, a holistic dentist is..
A dentist who cares about a patient’s spirit or inner- being
A dentist that cares about a patient’s emotions and listens (REALLY LISTENS)
A dentist that cares about what goes into a person’s body and the impact it can have on them.
We research all materials before we put them in your body.
We make sure we use the least toxic, most biocompatible materials possible for your dental treatment. We would never put a material in your mouth that we wouldn’t use on our own children.
We use ozone to disinfect the mouth and assist in helping to eradicate sinus issues.
Ozone (a modified version of oxygen) kills harmful, but not beneficial, pathogens in the mouth. We can also use ozone to help patients suffering from the common cold, sinus infections, and bronchitis. To learn more about ozone, click here.
Not only is Dr. Dreher a dentist, he is a Board Certified Naturopath.
We try to identify the cause of the problem- not just treatment of the disease.
Our mouths are the home for both beneficial and harmful bacteria, and even sometimes parasites. A slide analysis helps us identify various types of bacteria in the mouth to determine if they may be contributing to oral issues such as periodontal disease or decay. If present, we are able to make recommendations to try to reduce them in the mouth.
We offer relaxing amenities to decrease anxiety.
Our goal is to make your experience as relaxing and positive as possible. We also offer Full Spectrum Infrared Sauna Therapy, Trager Approach, Chromotherapy, and Paraffin Hand Treatments (food grade, triclosan-free paraffin). We can also make your experience more comfortable through Sedation dentistry.
We are gluten – free accommodating.
We understand that everyone is unique and we would not want allergies to keep our patients from receiving the care they deserve. We can proudly say we are gluten free accommodating. Let us know at your next visit and we will be sure to accommodate your needs.
You will not find fluoride in our office.
Studies have shown that fluoride (even in small doses) could possibly be a neurotoxin and an endocrine disruptor. Therefor, we refrain from using it in our practice.
We remove amalgam (silver) fillings safely.
Silver fillings contain mercury, and mercury is harmful to our health. Our goal is to protect both the patient and the staff from mercury vapors that may come off of the filling during removal. We follow the IAOMT protocol for SMART mercury removal.
